Look, we all have our bad habits. Some habits are worse than others. For example, some of us cannot help but stop at the Wendy’s drive thru on the way home from work to get their daily Frosty and small fries. Sharon we are looking at you for this one! Look, we get it. If you haven’t dipped fries into a Frosty than you are missing out because the combo will get you hooked in no time.

Or maybe you have an Amazon addiction and wake up in the middle of the night in a haze with 12 things in your Amazon cart and of course you blame it on Ambien because it is safer that way. Do you suffer from having bad habits like eating fast food or spending way too much on things you don’t really need? Old habits die hard as they say, that is until this crazy bracelet came into existence.

While you may be having a hard time kicking a bad habit,  there might be a way to beat those bad habits for those of us with little to absolutely no willpower.

Willpower. What a concept. Yeah, we weren’t born with any of that so called “will power” and we aren’t really sure that it is even a thing TBH.

Whether you believe in will power or whether you have any at all, the Pavlok bracelet has you covered.

 Introducing The Pavlok

The Pavlok is a bracelet that you can buy for $200 on Amazon. Yes, we know that we told you to stay away from buying things on Amazon, but hear us out!

We said to stay away from buying things on Amazon that you don’t need. There is a major difference.

We are not telling you to get on Amazon and buy a pool float beer pong table when you don’t even have a pool. BTW we just ordered one, we will tell you how it is.

The Pavlok is a shocking new product that is designed to shock you when you are practicing bad habits in order to help you kick a bad habit.

You wear the Pavlok on your wrist like a really mean and totally painful wrist watch or bracelet.

It is synced with a smartphone app and you will get up to 150 zaps per charge. This sounds fun, doesn’t it??

It works a little something like this. You basically shock yourself every time you have a craving to eat fast food or spend money that you don’t really need to be spending.

 Inflicting Pain

You inflict yourself with the pain of the little shocks so you have no one to blame but yourself for your bad habits.

In only 3-5 days, you will start to associate the craving with the pain of the shock, making you crave it less over time.

The things we have to do to keep ourselves in check. There has got to be a better way!

Happy With Results

Look, a lot of the people who have bought the product seem to be really happy with the results.

And why is a product like The Pavlok so effective? It really is quite simple when you break it down.

Their products work by utilizing Aversive Conditioning. Aversive conditioning is behavior training that uses negative stimuli and association to help reaffirm a specific action as undesirable.

Feeling Good

While everyone knows that smoking is bad for you and can kill you, people still do it because it feels good to do it.

Smoking and buying stupid things online feels good and eating delicious things that are bad for you tastes good. So so good.

So if you are also getting shocked every time you indulge, over time you won’t want to indulge because you won’t want to endure the pain when you do. It just won’t be worth it and you will no longer associate your bad behavior with feeling good, but getting shocked instead.

Our Reptile Brains

The Amazon page states: “Pavlok allows you to speak your reptile brain’s language by adding an unpleasant element (a safe and harmless ‘zap’ of electricity on your wrist) to what you have been taught to love (your nasty lingering habit).”

Hey! Who are they calling a reptile! Whatever, lizards are cute. Keep going.

They continued, “Quickly conditioning your mind to associate an “unpleasant” feeling with your bad habit… and stopping it all together.”

Our Nasty Lingering Habits

But we have a question. What happens if we love our nasty lingering habits?

Ugh, fine. Just go ahead and shock us for asking that question. We know that we deserve it. Is that how this thing works?

On their website, Pavlok shares a number of success stories with quotes from people who claim to have broken habits from smoking to nail biting by giving themselves a shock.

Success Stories

“I didn’t want to shock myself so I wouldn’t eat the food in the first place,” a woman named Tasha says. “I haven’t had any refined sugar, which is awesome…I feel like I’m back in control of my relationship with food. I feel like I have a much healthier relationship with food.”

Is anyone else suddenly in the mood for Sour Patch Kids? How about some Rolos?

Hey somebody! Hand over a Pavlok, we need it before we make any more mistakes.

The Shock Clock

Did we forget to mention that they also sell what they call a “Shock Clock”?  Think about it for a minute and you’ll figure out what it is.

Nothing says good morning like a jolt of electric shock running through your body before you’ve even have your first cup of coffee.

Customer Dave Rogenmoser said, “I tried a lot of things to form new habits and break old habits. When I got Pavlok, I was really impressed with the quality.”

“I started using the little alarm system that helps to wake you up. After doing that for 30 days I woke up more consistently than I ever have in my life. Love it.”

We may just stick to our iPhone alarms if that is cool with all of you. But we encourage you to try it and let us know how it goes.

Happy Customers Overall

Amazon consumers also seem to be happy with the device, one wrote, “At 100% on a decent charge it is more than enough of a zap to get your attention.”

Crank it up, baby! They continued, “I’m glad I bought it, so far I believe it is working. It’s not going to cure a lifelong issue in a few days so you have to stick to their plan and really work on it,” wrote one customer.”

It better cure a lifelong issue if we have to endure the pain of the product!

A Silent Wakeup Call

One great thing about the Shock Clock is that it doesn’t make any noise when it wakes you up.

On that note, a reviewer wrote, “I have tried a few devices to help me wake early for success without interrupting my wife’s beauty sleep. This one I have to say is the best so far.”

“I am able to wake up and get moving quietly. I turn off the sound alarm and turn the shock on about 60% and the vibrate on 100% and it works like a charge if the vibration doesn’t wake me the shock will.”
