Does anyone like laundry day? Probably not. How could anyone like doing their laundry? There are 50 million other things we would rather do than separate our whites and our colors and unfold all of our socks. Doing laundry is the worst! The best thing about laundry day is knowing that you won’t have to do laundry for another week or so. Well, two weeks if you have enough underwear to get you through it.

We don’t know why we hate laundry day so much either. Is it all the lugging? Is it the sweating or all the running back and forth? By the way, does that count as exercise? We say yes! Perhaps it’s all the folding? There is nothing more boring than folding a bunch of t-shirts. Well, watching paint dry is probably more boring. Fine, watching paint dry beats doing laundry on the boring scale but that’s about it.

A Sense Of Accomplishment

But there is something about laundry day, as tedious as it is, that makes you feel a sense of accomplishment.

You really feel like you did something huge by the time you are done with it all. There is nothing like that feeling of putting on new sheets or putting your neatly folded clothes away.

It was torture the whole way through but in the end, you feel like you deserve a nice little pat on the back.

Master Folding T-Shirts

And the reality is, is that we are going to have to fold newly washed and dried clothes for the rest of our lives, so we may as well have fun with it.

Learning how to perfectly fold a T-shirt like you’re in the army is a fun little game to play next time you are forced to do laundry on your day off.

Here is a way that you can master folding your T-shirts that will make you feel like a badass.

The Ranger Roll

If you watch the video,  the “ranger roll” you will watch, step-by-step how to master a technique that will turn a regular shirt into a tightly-wrapped burrito.

Watching the YouTuber’s method, derived from basic training in the U.S. armed forces, is so relaxing it will make you want to do laundry right away so you can try it for yourself.

Don’t believe us? Go ahead and watch it and then see how you feel.

Step One

Believe it or not, there are very few steps in order to master this Army-approved technique.

The first step is by far the easiest one. All you have to do is spread out a regular shirt on a flat surface front side facing up.

That’s it! Seems too good to be true. Just go ahead and do it and we will tell you what is next.

Step Two

Alright now let’s really get to work. It’s time for step two. Are you ready?

All you have to do for this step is fold the bottom part of the T-shirt upward about three inches. Think about a beanie and how you fold up the bottom just a bit.

Do the same at the bottom of your shirt. Then smooth out the corners and make sure your fold is straight all the way around.

Step Three

Alright, now that you’ve folded the shirt up, take one side and fold it over the center.

Now don’t forget to fold the sleeve over as well. Once you have folded both the shirt and the sleeve it should look like the picture above.

Are we still all in this together? Great, only two more steps to go!

Step Four

We have some really great news for you. For this next step, you don’t have to learn anything new. You’re welcome.

All you need to do is repeat step three again but on the other side. When you are done folding you should be left with a six-inch wide shirt.

If you are on the right path, than your shirt should be ready to be rolled up.

Step Five

And for step five, the final step, it’s time to roll that shirt up like a cute little burrito.

Starting at the collar, roll the shirt as tightly as you possibly can until you reach the bottom.

When you are rolling it up, make sure that there are no wrinkles as you go. If you have wrinkles in the shirt as you roll, you’ll have wrinkles in the shirt when you unroll.

Securing Your Burrito

And there you have it! Well, there is actually one more little step that we are going to sneak in to keep your shirt burrito from coming undone.

The last thing you will want to do to keep your shirt nice and secure in the wrap the bottom fold around the burrito you’ve created and smooth it out.

And take a look at that beautiful shirt burrito that is ready to be stored in a drawer until you show it off wrinkle free next time you wear it.

More Laundry Hacks

And now that you’ve mastered that laundry hack, here are a few more to help keep your laundry feeling fresh and exciting.

Are you sick of losing all of your socks every time you do the laundry? So are we!!!

Well, if you want to never lose another sock again, put your socks in a mesh laundry bag before you throw them in the washing machine. Once they’re clean and dry, you’ll be able to pair them up in no time with no sock casualties.

Wash Your Things In Cold Water

If you want to save some money and energy, wash your things with cold water instead of hot water.

90% of the energy used while running a load of wash is for heating the water.

You can save about $40 per year just by switching to cold water! Just try it out and see if you notice any difference in the way your clothes look and feel.

Unshrink Clothing With Baby Shampoo

Have you ever accidentally shrunk something you loved in the dryer? It hurts in a way that cannot be fixed.

That is until now. To unshrink fabric, fill a sink with lukewarm water and add a capful of baby shampoo or regular conditioner.

Let the item soak for ten minutes and then squeeze the garment to remove excess water and place a towel on a flat surface and put the item on top of it. Roll up the towel to absorb even more water. Now, gently stretch the sweater while it’s damp, and lay the garment flat to dry. Your clothing should be back to normal.

Use Baby Powder For Oil Stains

Getting an oil stain on a piece of clothing that you love is the absolute pits!

How can you fix this issue? Before you throw the soiled clothes into the washing machine, sprinkle the baby powder directly onto the affected area and allow it to soak overnight.

Then once it soaked in, throw the clothes into the wash and BAM. Bye stain! See you never!

Try Vinegar Instead Of Fabric Softener

If you are out of fabric softener, you are in luck! Fabric softeners are full of potentially harmful chemicals so go ahead and ditch them and use vinegar instead.

Pour ¼ to ½ cup of vinegar into your washer along with your regular detergent.

Using vinegar is cheaper and will leave your clothing soft and fresh without the unnecessary additives.

Never Use An Iron Again

If you are not a fan of ironing, try this nifty ice cube trick instead.

Next time you have clothes that are full of wrinkles, throw them in the dryer and add a couple of ice cubes in the dryer for approximately 15 minutes.

The steam from the melting cubes will work as a natural wrinkle releaser in no time. Take the clothes out and you should be wrinkle free!

Ditch Your Dryer Sheets

Dryer sheets are chock full of chemicals that have been linked to cancer so do yourself a favor and ditch the dryer sheets like now.

If you want to fight static, ball up some aluminum foil and then add it to your dryer load.

This is not only effective, but it’s economical, reusable, and chemical-free.

Tennis Ball

And if you have listened to us and ditched the dryer sheets and are in need of a safe softener, try throwing in some tennis balls.

Adding a couple of tennis balls to the dryer will help put some extra fluffy softness into your comforter, sheets, and your towels.

Hopefully these laundry tricks will make laundry day a little more manageable! And if not, TV in the background always works too!
