A New Study Reveals That Women Who Smoke Weed Have Better Orgasms
Okay, so we have to preface this whole article with a very important statement: We in no way endorse the use of substances that may be (still inexplicably and unfairly) illegal in your area (come on, America! Get with the program already and make it legal in all 50 states! It makes absolutely no sense that it can be purchased in fancy stores in some places and in other areas it’s still a jail-able offense).
Boy… there sure were a lot of parenthetical qualifiers in that statement, but we made it all the same. The information we’re about to share with you is meant for educational and informational and other synonymous terms like that purposes only. We’re not advocating the use of any illegal substances (that… ah, you get the idea). Got it? Good. With all of that out of the way, let’s talk about marijuana, and one particularly positive benefit of it…
“Drug” is a four letter word. There are a lot of negative connotations stirring within us when we hear that word.
But drugs can be used for good as well as harm. Doctors prescribe drugs to help heal their patients.
And those aren’t marijuana’s only benefits. According to a study recently published in the science journal Sexual Medicine, weed can also help out in the bedroom.
And we’re not talking about helping you get to sleep… although it can do that as well.
This is something even better. Apparently, it’s been discovered (actually, the more appropriate term would be “confirmed”) that women who enjoy weed have higher sex drives, less pain during sex and more satisfying orgasms compared to women who abstain.
Yup. It seems that women who puff, puff and pass aren’t the only things that get high. So do their odds.
What odds? The odds of having amazing climaxes while doing the deed. Don’t take our word for it. Here’s what the study says on the matter:
“Women with frequent marijuana use, regardless of use before sx or not, had 2.10 times higher odds of reporting satisfactory orgasms than those with infrequent marijuana use.” Yikes.
The study was led by a team at the USA-based Saint Louis University School of Medicine.
It involved 373 participants. Of those participants, approximately 34 percent reported to have used marijuana before sexual activity in the past.
And wouldn’t you just know it… it found that combining cannabis and sex for the sake of science (the best reason to do this!), these women reported positive effects in overall sexual satisfaction, desire, orgasm and improvement in sexual pain (though not in lubrication).
Again, we have to reiterate that we’re not advocating the use of substances that may be illegal in your area.
That said, if you happen to get stoned before hopping in the sack, there are crazy benefits.
Can we also take a moment to acknowledge that this had to have been the best scientific study of all time? Imagine getting paid to be a participant in this. You get lit and laid. All for the betterment of knowledge. Yup… that’s what you’re in it for.
Does this come as a surprise to you? If you’ve ever tried this chronic combo before, then it doesn’t at all.
VICE interviewed women to see their reactions to this study and its findings. As you’d imagine, they were delighted but not exactly surprised. One woman said weed sex is better than booze boning.
“At least, it’s not like alcohol where the man (if you’re having sex with a man, that is) can get a whiskey d***, or you have to stop midway to vomit.”
Positive On Pot
Other women responded that not only does having sex while high feels better than when drunk, but it’s also safer.
“The worst that can happen if you have had a toke is that you start giggling midway or forget you’re having sex,” one said.
Another woman said that it also helped to get her out of her head, stating, “I feel way more chilled, less anxious about my bodily insecurities and generally better in touch with myself when high.”
That last comment is especially relevant to this study. You see, the study found that getting high leads to more intense orgasms in women.
However, while we know that it happens, the study didn’t conclusively prove why it happens.
However, the fact that marijuana use can reduce stress might have something to do with the answer. After all, if you re full of anxieties, it’s hard to be in the moment and enjoy love making as much.
The study does it’s best to hypothesize as to why getting stoned makes sex so much more awesome, saying,
“It has been postulated that it leads to improvement in sexual function simply by lowering stress and anxiety.
It may slow the temporal perception of time and prolong the feelings of pleasurable sensations. It may lower sexual inhibitions and increase confidence and a willingness to experiment. Marijuana is also known to heighten sensations such as touch, smell, sight, taste and hearing.”
Stoners have a bad reputation, don’t they? They are seen as lazy, slow and entirely unmotivated.
However, it turns out that smoking a lot of weed can motivate you to do at least one activity. And we’re all fans of that.
The study noted that there was a possibility that weed may help activate neurotransmitters linked to sexual pleasure. So getting high doesn’t fry your brain. It actually enhances regions of it so you enjoy life more!
Pleasures In Privacy
We’ve mentioned several times how we don’t condone the use of substances that are illegal.
However, the fact that it is illegal may actually lend itself to why marijuana use has led to some pretty great sex over the years.
A previous study on a similar subject had also revealed how the illegality of marijuana made it so that you consumed it in a more private area than something like alcohol, which can be had pretty much anywhere. This privacy contributed to the facilitation of sexual acts.
That hypothesis that marijuana being illegal, therefore being used in a private place and therefore leading to sex seems like pure conjecture, doesn’t it?
Well, in science, a hypothesis can turn into a theory after it’s been tested and you can prove results.
Results on this theory were proved by a study from none other than Stanford University researchers in 2017. They found a direct correlation between frequent pot-smoking and frequent sex. Sounds like heaven for some, but a nightmare for squares in the 1940s.
While those studies confirmed that weed makes sex better, this current study is groundbreaking for the fact it focuses specifically on female pleasure and orgasms.
This is especially appreciated considering an orgasm gap – the clear disparity between men and women when it comes to achieving orgasm – still exists.
Life just isn’t fair. During sex, it’s easy for most men to reach climax, but that isn’t the case for most women. And sadly, not all men are very considerate at helping out.
Help Is Here
But thanks to this study, we now know for certain that there are ways to have more intense orgasms.
Sure, this won’t close the orgasm gap, but it can at least double your chances of enjoying those Big Os.
Yes, that’s not equality. But you know what? Sometimes you have to take the victories wherever you can get them. And taking a toke, reducing stress and having mind-blowing orgasms? This seems like an absolute win for now.
Smoke 'Em If You've Got 'Em
So there you have it. If you’re planning on getting frisky, then before you do, plan on getting sticky and icky.
We’ve learned a lot from this study, haven’t we? But here’s the most important thing to take away from it:
That studies like these exist in the first place. How the heck can we find them? We want to pull a full on Katniss Everdeen, rush to the front of the group and shout, “I volunteer as tribute!”
