Actors are known to go to great lengths for a role. These people are earning millions of dollars per movie. So really, they can afford to say no to sugar once in a while or shave their head to look the part.
Losing massive amount of weight, gaining weight or gaining muscle is nothing new for these people. Charlize Theron was unrecognizable is Monster and Chris Pratt went from chubby to muscled in Jurassic Park.
And yet, after wrapping up War Dogs, Hill felt the need to lose some of the excess weight. Now some people turn to online articles when they need to lose weight. Others go to a dietician or turn to prayer so their weight loss becomes the work of God.
Hill talked about his weight loss on The Tonight Show, telling Jimmy Fallon about the time he asked Tatum what the formula to losing weight is. He said, “[If I] ate less and went to a trainer, will I get in better shape?” Tatum then replied with “Yes, you dumb [expletive], of course, you will. It’s the simplest thing in the entire world.”
Tatum’s reply was quite obvious and simple really. But for people who struggle to lose weight this simple formula can feel more complicated than that. This is often because food is tied to emotions and giving it up can be too hard a task to do.
Having said this, Hill is not your average person. This guy can afford the best nutritionists and trainers to support him along his weight loss journey. We, on the other hand, have none of that except friends pushing our self-control to the limit by asking us to join them for an "afternoon treat" every other day.
Tatum’s words may have been harsh but they weren’t hurtful. When we want to change, it’s good to have a friend like Tatum (dream on) to show us a little tough love. A weight loss journey is hard and sometimes we need people to push us, rather than coddle us.
Nowadays, Hill is more than a loveable actor. This guy has turned into people’s weight loss inspiration. People are using Hill as a reminder that they too can push themselves and get to their weight loss goal.
Others, however, are criticizing the weight loss. They’re not saying that Hill has done anything wrong but they’re pointing out the fact that he will now get more leading roles because of his slimmer figure. Sadly, this is true. Just look at Chris Pratt, when he shed his excess weight, this guy went from ‘best friend’ roles and to leading man.
