Apps have made our lives way easier. And with so many great food delivery apps out there, ordering in is now a breeze. Still, while ordering may have become more efficient, it doesn’t mean some of the people delivering the food have suddenly stopped being a smartass.
On Monday the 17th of July, Alisha was at Johns Hopkins Hospital Maryland. It was there that she ordered some food — two burgers and a side of fries. She did so from a local burger joint and she used the Uber Eats app for the order.
“Are you at the main entrance?” This is when the delivery guy decided he hadn’t reached his level of smartass quota for the night. “No I'm on top of the building I just landed my helicopter,” he wrote.
Calling the guy a smartass, Alisha posted a screenshot of the conversation. She explained to Buzzfeed that the guy made a case for himself after that quip. You know, just in case the girl tries to get him fired.
Uber was worried at first about the guy and they reached out to Alisha to ask about the incident. However, when they saw people’s reaction on Twitter to the smartass’s answer, the people at Uber couldn’t help but join in. You know, as any good marketing strategist would.
“We don't deliver by helicopter, but we have some friends who can make this happen,” Uber Eats tweeted back to Alisha while using the hashtag #UberChopper. Just imagine, burgers being delivered around the country. They’d be dropped from above and caught with one arm reaching out of apartment windows. The future looks bright.
It really does look bright but I believe some things should stay the same. And by things, I mean having smartasses delivering food with a bit of attitude. Think what you want, I like a good side show before dinner.
