“She was three weeks old when we found her on the side of the road and my parents took her in,” Angel Olavarria said. “We actually named her Luna because of my sister's room design at the time when we brought her inside.”
But not just any type of party. “We love her to pieces and we wanted to do something special for her,” Angel said. “so on her 15th birthday we decided to give our little cheese ball a surprise Quinceañera.”
A Quinceañera,is usually thrown for a teenage human girl turning 15, but why not also throw one for a cat? And Martiza went all out when it came to food, decorations and more. And she also had to find Luna the perfect outfit.
“She did all the planning and she said she actually thought about it a year before,” Angel said. “I totally thought my mom was joking when she said she was going to order a dress for her. My mom never jokes about our pets.”
Like any other Quinceañera, it require a lot of planning to get it right. This wasn't some cat party thrown together on a whim. Angel said his mom, “did all the planning and she said she actually thought about it a year before.”
The decorations included a pink table cloth, balloons and more. Several food items were prepared, including a traditional Tres Leches cake. But it was an intimate affair overall, with about 12 people in attendance.
Despite the traditional cake, Luna didn't have much interest in it. Angel said Luna, "didn't actually want cake though, (instead) she ate a can of tuna right behind the cake.) So now we know that tuna equals cake in the cat world.
Of course, Luna is merely a cat, not a person. Did she understand what was going on? Or did she think all her humans had suddenly gone crazy? According to Angel, “She was such a good sport through the whole thing that we think she actually knew we were celebrating her.”
The whole even was so adorable that Angel had to share Luna's quinceañera photos on Reddit. “Those are fantastic,” commented eliz1bef. “I love her little crown. I actually squealed and clapped my hands.”
Attending (or being the subject of) a Quinceañera. So what is Luna into the rest of the time? According to her Facebook page, her interests are, “sunbathing, laying belly up in inconvenient places, eating, eating, sleeping, eating, cheese, turkey, ham, chicken, tuna, ice cream.”
