Unless you have lived under a rock for the past decade, you are at least aware of MTV's reality show Jersey Shore that began airing in 2009. Between throwing punches and dodging grenades at the club, this fist-pumping cast was nothing short of iconic. Who could forget Snooki's iconic hair? No one. We grew to love their relentless antics, and even The Situation grew on us as the seasons passed.
Although the show aired its last episode in 2012, this reality series defined an entire generation. Call us crazy — but there was something so endearing about this gem of trash television. Ratings do not lie, and Jersey Shore continued to break records season after season. This show reached millions upon millions of younger viewers, and we still quote the cast's best lines to this day. CABS ARE HERE!
Ever since the cameras stopped rolling for these reality stars, life has definitely taken a different turn. JWoww and Snooki are both married with two kids of their own, and it's almost weird to not see Snooki double-fisting some cocktails. "I think we've always wanted to be moms, we just didn't know the right time because obviously, we were crazy and insane," Snooki stated.
Our Favorite Cast Has Moved On, And So Have The Producers
Although we were all rooting for a Jersey Shore revival with the original cast members — we were instead given a sort of disappointing reunion special. Fans are even more up in arms about what television producers now have brewing, and it has nothing to do with the original gym, tan, and laundry fans we have grown to love. SAY IT AIN'T SO!
A Jersey Shore spinoff is currently in the works, and it takes place along the beachy Florida-Alabama border. This new show will be brought to you by the executive producer of Jersey Shore, Sally Ann Salsano. It's set to be just as crazy, wild, and fueled by alcohol and random hook-ups — sprinkled with a pinch of redneck charm. Say hello to Floribama Shore.
Floribama Shore is set to be the same unfiltered, insane mess that was Jersey Shore. The show will take place in Panama City Beach, a spot on the Florida Panhandle that is no stranger to drunken debauchery. The eight cast members spend the summer together in a house, and well, we all know where this is going.
"This coming of age story captures the very real thrill and angst of being young and trying to figure out the future with a group of people you’ll come to call family," MTV released in a statement. One look at the new cast and we can already see how crazy things are going to play out. Let's be serious — they weren't chosen because they are reasonable and restrained.
What would a reality show be without some young adults looking to make some bad decisions — all under one roof? Since Jersey Shore premiered an entire eight years ago, MTV decided it was time to welcome some fresh faces to the scene. As expected, this cast looks bronzed, beautiful, and down to be catty.
"Each is armed with incredible life experiences and standing at a crossroads, whether it’s ending a relationship, tasting independence for the first time, or trying to escape the past,” MTV stated. In all actuality, what twenty-something isn't feeling totally lost? Floribama Shore is sure to dish up some tasty drama — and it turns out it's already making some waves.
Fans Of The Original Series Are Not Warming Up To This Idea
"Whatever this “new jersey shore” show is will NEVER be as good as the original. That’s all," one Jersey Shore fan tweeted. It's like the old saying: if it's not broken, don't fix it. Jersey Shore is forever the reigning champion of reality television, and those are some big shoes to fill. Even the original cast had a lot to say.
The Situation was quick to throw shade on this spin-off situation. "You heard the People @MTV just bring back the Real #JerseyShore RT if u agree," he tweeted. The Situation's telling statement was retweeted by all the original cast except for Ronnie — but he's never on social media so that doesn't count. He even admitted that the original Jersey Shore cast was not consulted about this new show — the nerve!
One Twitter user voiced their opinion that the original cast may be too old for their reality show antics, and Snooki was not having it. "I'm 29, 2 kids, Married & can still funnel wine and do cartwheels on the dance floor. We aren't dead Bundy," she tweeted. Her tweet obviously went insanely viral — no one puts Snooki in a corner!
Fans of Jersey Shore are not going to let this go. The original cast are favoriting tweets from loyal fans, such as, "Saying Floribama Shore is the new Jersey Shore is like asking for Fruit Loops and your mom bringing home Fruit Spins." Touche. We can't argue with that one.
Still looking forward to checking out the country version of our favorite reality show series? Floribama Shore is set to premiere on November 27th. Mark it on your calendars, this show is set to rival what we know and love about our favorite Jersey Shore antics.
Please don't ruin a good thing. Jersey Shore can never be duplicated, so all fans can hope for is some laughs and a fair share of dirty laundry waiting to be exposed. There can only be one T-shirt time — and that is a fact.
